Last Sunday night Mom and I visited friends of ours who live in the suburbs. They live in Chambourcy, past the last RER stop of St. Germain-en-Laye. It was fun to get out of the city and see how real people live, because the people in downtown Paris don't seem to have real lives. We had a lovely dinner, good conversation, and got to hear the kids perform all their instruments. It was a multilingual dinner--a combination of French, English, and Polish. Only one person at the table could speak all three fluently! Because French is the family's second language, they spoke it a bit slower than a native French speaker. Thus, I could understand them perfectly! It was really cool to be able to understand every word in a foreign language.
